We have experience in many aspects of exterior decoration ranging including casement windows repairs and painting, doors, porches, rotten wood treatment, masonry painting, shiplap cladding, cedar cladding treatment, decking treatment, wrought iron railings, sheds and fences.
Exterior woodwork and rotten wood treatment
We have many years experience in preparing and treating exterior woodwork. We also have carpentry skills so will always attempt to replace rotten wood rather than using traditional two-part fillers that often crack after a year or two. One of our specialties is the renovation of sash windows, however the methods used to repair sash windows is the same for normal casement windows and most other woodwork.
Masonry painting
We have worked on many different types of masonry painting jobs ranging from garden walls to town centre office buildings. Regardless of the size of the job we wash down the walls with a fungicide wash, repair any loose render and stabalise powdery surfaces before applying any paint.
Timber cladding treatment
Timber cladding is becoming more and more popular these days. Western Red Cedar is the most common but European Oak and Chestnut are becoming more widely used for both new builds and renovations.
Timber cladding is a fast-growing trend. It’s beautiful, durable and environmentally friendly and sustainable.
There are many ways to treat cedar cladding. Using products that leave a film on the surface such as varnishes should be avoided as they will crack and bubble up after a year or two. The preferred method is to use a product that soaks into the wood and provides UV protection. There are many products available and the best product will much depend on the type of cladding that you have and the finish that you are looking for.
